So there was this one day when I met up with Anna in the heartlands, Toa Payoh Central where the both of us walked in circles for awhile. We did not want to travel any further but we wanted to try something, maybe less local. Hence I brought Anna to this little cafe where I stumbled upon previously with another friend!
Known as Les Patisseries Cafe, it is a small cafe, able to seat perhaps 30-45 people. It was tucked away in a pretty quiet spot, hidden among a bunch of small salons and spa & beauty businesses. We were the only customers when we entered at like, 4pm on a Tuesday, but business picked up closer to dinner time.

With the fries came the aroma of truffle oil, wafting into the nose, with the generous amount of Parmesan cheese. I <3 it.
The cafe offers several flavour/options of waffles, but Anna and I choose this due to ambiguity.
When I saw Madagascar, I could only think of the characters doing "I like to move it move it" and nothing else. Thankfully, It was great!
The waffle had a hard outer crust that satisfyingly crunched as we sliced into it, yet the inside of the waffle was soft and warm. We guessed the flavour of the ice cream gave this waffle its name- Madagascar Vanilla.

| Is that even a thing?? OH YES IT IS! Yan Yan found that "Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans" is said to be flavourful and creamy, coupled with sweetness and buttery aroma. (Thanks, beanilla!) | |
Seem like we have unknowingly ordered something great!
Also, for the waffle ordered, it was topped with a vanilla macaron that is chewy but does not stick to our teeth. The macaron was not too sweet either and leaving us wanting more macarons!

It had a crunchy crust and a creamy hazelnut filling. The crushed nuts and sliced almond pieces at the side gave several textures to the dessert. It might be slightly on the sweeter side hence IMO it should be shared. | This chocolate dessert have the "I am expensive" outlook perhaps due to the gold spread on each piece. It consisted of three layers where each layer had a slight crunch of almonds I guess! This created the interesting spongy cake + crunchy feel mixed with a coffee aroma, yet chocolatey enough for my sweet tooth! |
While we don't recall the exact name, it definitely has coffee, chocolate and ice in it! The presentation of the drink is messier than I expected. The coffee brewed had a strong taste and is balanced when the chocolate is stirred into the coffee and well mixed. | It comes with a small cookie that soaks up the cappucino. When eaten, the taste spreads as the cookie melts in the mouth. Cappuccino is not really my cup of coffee as I prefer sweeter beverages, hence I added sugar. Even so, the espresso is brewed on the spot in the cafe, which make sense since it’s a cafe. HAHAHA. For a person who loves sweeter stuff, it’s really not a good choice, unless I am prepared to stuff myself with LOTS of cookies. But my friend, a coffee person, loved this cuppa. |
I would say left and right but it seemed like top and bottom is more appropriate in this context.
The Green Apple Smoothie was refreshing yet bland, with just a hint of green apple. IMO it is a good thing for the flavour not coming off strong. Maybe it means they used real green apples instead of flavouring, which is good! Real Apples = Natural! (**But I am thinking, if it’s real then why didn't the apple oxidise and turn brownish?)
The Green Tea Latte, like the smoothie, was not as strong as I expected. At least with the residue (**there is another word for it but i can't think of it now) in the drink, we can tell that real green tea powder was used!
