I'm actually a terrible chef, but that doesn't stop me from trying! I need the practice anyway.
I came across a no-bake recipe for chocolate oat bars, but I changed up the recipe because I'm lazy, I'm bad at it, and I couldn't find some ingredients... I guess I can call this my own recipe? So I named it Choco-Oat Bars, because I'm a massively creative individual when it comes to naming things.
In the end, I decided to add in peanut butter since my parents like it, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Just use like, 300g of chocolate instead of 1/2 cup peanut butter, and be prepared that it will be more watery and soak through the oats more.
Note: It ended up really too sweet so I guess a little tweaking is required.
(If you read "tweaking" as "twerking", idk what to say lol.)

Presenting... my simple, Lazy No Bake Recipe!
Ingredients Required: 230g of butter 153g of baking chocolate 1/2 cup of brown sugar 1/2 cup of peanut butter 3 cups of oats 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract/essence | Equipment Required: Measuring cups Teaspoon Weighing scale Pot Stove Stirring instrument (I used a wooden spoon) Some sort of tray to put all the stuff on. Mine was a 8.5" square glass tray. |
Step 1: Make your tray non-stick in any way you know how. You can use butter to grease it, spray a thin layer of oil on it, or use a non-stick wax paper to line it.
Step 2: Measure out all the ingredients you'll need. You can skip this step if you prefer to measure out ingredients as and when you need them.
Step 3: Making the oats part of the recipe!

Step 3: Making the oats part of the recipe!
- Melt butter in your pot over low to medium heat on your stove. When it's all melted, it should look pretty gross with two different colours. (Check out the video or picture below to know what I mean.)
- While you're stirring the butter, dump in brown sugar and vanilla extract. You'll know when it's all mixed when the mixture no longer has lumpy bits.
- Dump in all the oats now. Mix everything around until the oats has pretty much absorbed everything else lol.
- You're done!!! Phew. Take half of your oats mixture and spread it on your tray.
Step 4: Making the chocolate part of the recipe!
- Using a water bath method, melt the chocolate in a pot over low to medium heat.
- Next, add the peanut butter to the chocolate and mix it up.
- How to make a water bath? You heat up water in the pot, place a smaller bowl in the water so that it floats in the pot, then put the butter and peanut butter in the smaller bowl to melt. If not, the mixture will stick to the bottom of your pot and burn.
- Keep stirring and stirring until it's all melted.
- Pour it over your oats mixture in your tray.
Step 5: Spread the rest of your oats mixture on top of the chocolate in the tray.
Step 6: Stretch some cling film over the tray.
Step 7: Chill in the fridge for around 3 hours or overnight.
Step 8: Cut it into whatever size/shape you like. Thank Squirrel You're Done!

Oh yes, one more thing to note... the oats mixture I got at the end was so oily that I used serviettes/napkins/paper towels (or whatever other word you prefer) to soak up the excess oil. If you want to avoid this, perhaps you can use lesser butter, like 200g.
So here's the final product after I chilled it!
I hope you guys found my Lazy No Bake recipe easy to follow!
